    The Right way to do something, is the way that wor The Right way to do something, is the way that works for you. Do you stand and sew? Awesome! Sit? Amazing! Pin every inch or not at all? You do you boo. Sure, take advice from teachers, mentors and friends- try a new way of doing things and see if it works for you. But if it doesn’t? Let it go. I won’t tell anyone. Save this for when you need a reminder that you’re the boss of your own project. What’s something you do that the quilt police would scold you for? For me?     It might not hold ALL your floss, but it sure look It might not hold ALL your floss, but it sure looks good trying! 1X4 boards with nails spaced 1” apart create the perfect backdrop to hold clothespins wrapped with floss. Mark the floss color with a pen on the bottom of the clothespin. I framed mine out with 1X2 boards painted turquoise. It’s one of my favorite happy spots in my sewing room. Some common questions- it can get dusty, so I keep the most frequently used colors on it so they are moved around often to keep them clean. No- it doesn’t hold all my floss. When I first made it (years ago) it did, but I have since inherited my MILs extensive collection and most of my floss is on small cards in plastic boxes.     Or not! There are so many ways to sew on binding- Or not! There are so many ways to sew on binding- this is just how I like to do it for my needle book. I leave one side of the binding free when I start to sew it down, then proceed as usual to sew it to the front of the needle book. When you get to the end, overlap the two binding ends by an inch or so and trim the free end. Tuck the free end into the starting end- it may be helpful to use something to help line them up well, and finish sewing down. When bringing the binding around to the back, be sure to keep the tucked ends straight, binding clips are helpful here. I like to hand sew the binding on my needle books because I like adding a little hand sewing to something used for hand sewing, but you for sure can do whatever you like.     Plastic snaps are fast and easy and I love how the Plastic snaps are fast and easy and I love how they look! If you purchase a setting kit from Amazon it comes with all the tools you need. Sometimes you only have a few minutes to get in a few more seams, and you just have to push aside the piles and get to the good part! And help said kid who just got back from crochet club figure out a single crochet. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect to just begin!
