I have been working on a few projects. None of them seem to be working out exactly like I had planned. The board above has been in process for a couple of months. I finally painted it, and was trying to figure out how to use it to hold my necklaces. This is the first iteration. I love how the necklaces look, which is what I wanted to decide first. Now I need to cover the cork board with fabric (after making it thicker- the thumbtacks don’t go all the way in) and attach it more permanently to the board. The adhesive strips I used didn’t work well and when I went up to bed a few nights after taking this picture, all the necklaces were in a pile on the floor!
This little guy I love. After seeing the pompom spider on http://www.eighteen25.blogspot.com/ I thought I would like to make some. But I only had black netting, not yarn. So I hijacked Martha Stewart’s Pom Pom flower tutorial and made these. I love the squirrely wire legs, but they slide all over and don’t stay in place. My sister gave me the brilliant idea of hot gluing them in place before tying the center down and hopefully that will solve the problem! Almost there with this one. (you might notice the back leg looks different- I tried beading it. I don’t love the seed beads- takes forever! But I might try some other LARGER beads)
This is a project that my sister and I started this afternoon, just for fun. Subway art is so popular (does anyone know why it’s called Subway Art?) and we thought we’d try our hand at it. So this is the Halloween side, and the other side will be Fall. We spent all our time getting the letters and images cut, we ran out of time to glue everything down. Hopefully it will only be a day or so and this one will be checked off the list.
I really hope I’m not the only one who sometimes has to take a detour on a project when things don’t go exactly according to plan!
