couch makeover fabric pillow yarn

Couch Makeover {pillow #3}

For pillow #3 I was looking for texture.  I had this great linen fabric that I wanted to embellish.  I bought some fuzzy brown yarn and mapped out a grid.  The knots are 2″ apart on this pillow and the first row was started 2 1/2″ from the edge.  I started with a 15″ square and the finished pillow is 14″.  I did a french knot to make the knot, but instead of going around the needle once or twice I went around it about 5-6 times per knot.  I wanted the knot nice and nubby. 🙂

I just sewed two squares together to make the pillow.  I figured with the knots and yarn I probably wouldn’t ever wash it anyway.  I think it makes a nice little addition to the couch.

3 pillows down, and 3 to go.  I’m finishing #4 today.  I’m still deciding how exactly to embellish the polka dot fabric, but I think we’re unanimous in our opinion that it definitely needs something.  Leaving me to figure out what that something should be. 😉 {the polka dot pillow is not pillow #4, I need more time with that one}  And I thought I knew what I was going to do with the tan knit fabric (the unfinished tan fabric to the left), but had a major craft fail when I realized that the fabric was too thin for the look I was going for.  But!  Thanks to twitter and Pinterest- I think I may have found my last pillow idea.  I’ll keep you posted.
XOXO,
Amy

p.p.s. I’m sorry for making you look at this couch every time I post a new pillow.  But maybe  you’ll understand why the pillows are so necessary. 😉
p.p.p.s. I totally missed Mom-day yesterday.  Doh!  Sorry.

    As I'm looking at my own polka dot pillow, I'm thinking some simple piping would finish it off nicely. So you could just try that.

    Great idea! i love the yearn knots!, so clever. I think the polka dot fabric would look great in a round pillow that is pin tucked on the side with a big button in the middle. Kinda like this one but with a bigger button.

    I never would have expected pillow #3 to go with the pillows you have made so far, but it looks really good with the others. Really unusual and cool idea!

    What a fun and simple way to add some texture and visual POP to a pillow! I love it.
