Enjoy a summer picnic with this stunning scalloped table topper

The fabric for this post was provided by Riley Blake Designs for participation in the Summer Picnic project tour. The project and opinions are my own.

Brighten up any meal- inside or out- with this stunning scalloped table topper. But really, when you can eat outside, why wouldn’t you? (except maybe- flies) This Summer Picnic fabric is so bright and fun. I wanted to create a pattern that would give a nod to the darling scalloped strawberry print I ended up using as a border. This table topper ended up looking just like an old vintage handkerchief or napkin and I am thrilled with how it turned out! The pattern is available in my Etsy shop.

And, really, this table topper is so good inside too- I might just bring it with me everywhere- inside or out!

I couldn’t resist sewing up some strawberries using my Juicy Berry pattern. They are just so happy and fun in these fabrics.

This bright and cheerful line by Melissa Mortenson is absolutely full of happy vintage goodness! Florals, bees and of course gingham would make any sewing project more fun! I originally intended to create one of my Summer Fruit mug rugs but couldn’t resist the idea of making a new pattern with this yummy fabric!

Scalloped Table Topper Pattern

As with my Frame It table topper pattern, I made sure the center was simple, so you don’t mind placing a plant or other decorations on top of it. The scalloped border though, is where this pattern really shines. It adds such a fun touch without the stress of a scalloped binding! The table topper finishes at 28″ square so it is a pretty generous size. Fabric requirements include: 5 fat quarters and one 1/4 yard cut for the front. You will also need 1 yard for backing and 1/4 yard for binding. The inner border and accent squares could also be cut from scraps as you don’t need much fabric for those.

Whether you use it to set the scene for a bright and happy summer picnic, or you just want to bring some of that summer sunshine inside, a Scalloped Table Topper out of Summer Picnic fabric is a total win!
