This Confetti Pillow is a darling introduction to patchwork with low stakes and high impact! The bright colorful squares in a sea of low volume bring just the right amount of happiness to this fun project. The scrappy low volume fabric background adds interest and texture while still allowing the color to shine. Get your own copy of this pattern by signing up for the Ameroonie Designs newsletter below. Tips and Tricks
The first tip is for fabric selection. This sewing project is a great way to use up those low volume scraps. Because some of the pieces are pretty small, you can even incorporate some of your cherished little bits of your favorite fabrics. The first pillow uses a rainbow of colors, and alternating the position of the colored squares add movement and interest to the pillow. The second pillow is much more scrappy and random, which is sometimes more fun.
Second, this pillow is a great way to work on your patchwork skills. Practice consistent seam allowances and chain piecing, without a lot of pressure. Because of the scrappy low volume background, seams that don’t line up exactly are hidden from notice which is always great!
Final tip: switch up the look of your Confetti Pillow by adding a colorful binding to frame your pillow front. I also recommend using a Hidden Zipper Pillow back for this pillow. You can find inexpensive zippers at Zipit on Etsy. (affiliate link)
