Mr. Owl and Friends Crossbody bag

cross body bag made with Mr. Owl and friends tootsie roll fabric.

The moment I saw this Mr. Owl and friends Tootsie Roll fabric, I knew immediately I wanted to make some sort of pouch or bag. I love the bright colors and the fun candy theme of this fabric. I’ve been wanting to create a simple cross body bag for a while and a Mr. Owl and friends Crossbody bag seemed like a perfect way to show off this fun fabric.

The red and navy backgrounds of the prints allow the bright colors of the candy packages to pop off the fabric. I couldn’t resist buying a bag of the candy shown in the fabric to use as props (and maybe to snack on while I worked). But I have to say the circle print I used for the flap is probably my favorite.

Riley Blake Designs provided the fabric for this project, the ideas and opinions are mine.

back of cross body bag has a slip pocket for holding phones or keys.

The back of the bag has a simple slip pocket for holding a phone or anything else you want access to. There are so many ways I can think of to customize this pouch, and adding pockets is one of my favorite ways. Finishing at 6″ wide by 7″ tall, this bag is a fantastic size for a tween.

Lining of bag is a fun white scatter print.

A simple magnetic snap closure makes getting into and out of the bag super easy. I didn’t add any pockets to the inside of this version, but I think in the future it would be fun to add a few more pockets to this Cross body bag.

I think it would be fun to sew up a coordinating small mini pouch. Or perhaps make a chapstick holder you could attach to the strap. What would you add to your Mr. Owl and friends Crossbody bag?
