This easy showstopper quilt features a Home Sweet Haunt panel by Stacy Iest Hsu. The artwork in it is just spectacular. I wanted to make up a quick and easy quilt that really shows off the individual panels. Of course, I had to complicate it just a bit, but I think the finished quilt is totally worth it. I’m going to share a quick tutorial for how I made the sashing, and you can adjust the dimensions for the panel you are working with. My quilt finished at approximately 50″ square- a decent sized lap quilt. If you want to make it bigger, you can add another border to the outside of the quilt.
And if you want to add coordinating projects- my Fabric House pattern creates the most darling Halloween Village and the Halloween Mini Banner is a fun addition to any holiday decor.

Panel Quilt Instructions
Supplies
- Fabric Panel- this pattern works best with smaller individual squares.
- Wide Sashing Fabric- 2/3 yard
- Skinny Sashing Fabric- 1/3 yard
- Star Point Fabric- 5/8 yard
- Cornerstone Fabric- 1/3 yard
- Binding- 1/2 yard
Cutting
- First, cut apart the panel images. Mine ended up measuring 11 1/2″ square. If your squares end up being different sizes- adjust the measurement on the Sashing Fabric strips accordingly.
- Cut Wide Sashing Fabric into 48- 2 1/2″ X 11 1/2″ strips.
- Next, cut Skinny Sashing fabric into 24- 1″ X 11 1/2″ strips.
- From the Star Point Fabric cut 96- 2 3/4″ X 2 3/4″ squares.
- From the Cornerstone Fabric cut 16- 5″ X 5″ squares.

Sew Sashing Strips
Sew two Wide sashing strips on either side of the Skinny Sashing strips. You should have a total of 24 pieced sashing strips. Next, draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the Star Point fabric squares. Place one Star Point square on one corner of one Pieced Sashing strip. Sew on the drawn line, cut 1/4″ away from the sew line and press the seam toward the Star Point Square. Repeat with three more Star Point squares on the remaining corners of the Pieced Sashing strips. Then repeat all of the steps for a total of 24 pieced sashing strips.

Assemble Your Stunning and Easy Showstopper quilt
Arrange your sashing strips and panel blocks as shown. Sew the cornerstone/sashing rows together and the sashing/panel block rows together. Then sew the rows to each other. All that’s left is quilting and binding! This really is a quick and fun quilt. If you would like to see how I bind my quilts using my machine, you can watch my YouTube playlist here.
