Nursery Picture Banner

I was given some papers and other supplies to create a project featuring this fun new line by Jen Hadfield for Pebbles inc.  I decided to create something for my new nursery.  Honestly, I thought I’d wait to post this until I had the final pictures of the nursery done, but the reality is that this is still the only piece I have finished- so I’m just going to post it.  I decided to create a photo banner and I’m…

The Great Secretary Makeover

*I was provided the paint and wax used in this project free of charge in exchange for a post demonstrating their use.  The project and opinions are my own.* My Great-grandmother was an amazing woman.  She was full of spirit and fun.  I didn’t get to know her very well, as she passed away when I was only 8 years old, but I have memories of going to the zoo with her and spending time with her at my Grandmother’s…

July Point of View Reveal- Furniture

It’s hard to believe that it’s already July 1st. We’re in the middle of a heat wave in my neck of the woods and with 100+ degree temperatures, it’s easier to stay inside and keep busy than try to cope with the heat.  I think reveals are so exciting and this month is no exception.  These are some wonderful projects don’t you think?  There’s enough inspiration here to keep me busy until the high pressure shifts and it’s bearable to…

Fabric Cabinet Makeover

I am desperately trying to get my supplies in order.  I am overrun with stuff- all kinds of stuff, from scrapbooking supplies to sewing implements- my shelf runneth over. 🙂  So I am always on the lookout for great ideas to help me get organized.  This shelf unit from Sew Many Ways is awesome!  So much storage from big box shelf units.  She makes it look custom by adding crown molding on top.  So smart!  And she has tons of…

Birthday Bedroom Makeover

My daughter’s birthday is at the first of next week. A few months ago, we decided that she would get her bedroom re-done for her birthday. It sounded like a good idea back then. Last night we shipped the three oldest over to grandma’s for a sleep-over so the hubby and I could paint and decorate the room. That way we could do a grand reveal, HGTV style! We were trying to cover up stripes I painted a few years…

Subway Art

So, since I know you were all wondering, I looked up the origins of Subway Art- kinda- I googled it! I found out that subway art comes from the vintage signs that used to mark the New York Subway stations. They were vertical, white lettering on a black background and they used two sizes of the same sanserif font. I’m not sure of all the steps in the evolution of those signs into the current form of “Subway Art” but…
