Celebration Table Runner

In our family, when one of the children has a birthday we celebrate them in one way by allowing them to pick out a few of their favorite treats and snacks that we put on display and allow them to eat throughout their special day.(of course they are expected to share with their siblings too!)  However, once the presents were opened, I felt like the jars of treats looked lonely on the table by themselves, so I decided to…

Perpetual Birthday Calendar

On Christmas Eve I had the opportunity to be a guest over on the blog Tatertots and Jello.  Jen is one of the sweetest bloggers I know and it was thrilling to be able to have a project over there.  I wanted to share it here in case any of you missed it, it being a sort of major holiday and all. 🙂 One of my goals for the new year is to be more thoughtful and send actual birthday…

It’s my Party- Project 2

I’ll admit that this week has been insane.  Birthday celebrations, graduations (preschool and kindergarten), cub scouts, lots of driving from here to there.   But, there’s also been a lot of fun- seeing friends for the first time in years, lots of fabric buying and late night laughs with friends. It means that I didn’t get to today’s project until, well, today.  But, instead of giving up on it, I went ahead and pushed through.  And, I’m so happy I did.…

It’s My Party- Project 1

As moms we often get put on the back burner.  We put our dreams and ambitions on hold in order to place our focus and energy on raising our children.  And while I firmly believe that raising children is the most important job we will ever do in our lifetimes, I think it’s important that we don’t lose our entire identity in the process. When I first saw this Noteworthy fabric from Moda at my local quilt shop, I knew…

3rd Annual Birthday Bash

What’s better than celebrating your Birthday?  Celebrating it with one of your best friends! This year we’re mellowing out the party a bit (maybe because we’re getting OLDER?) and we’re going to post projects on Wednesday and Friday.  These are- do it because you want to, just for you, anything you like- projects that we have wanted to do, but never took the time to get done.  And maybe if you have something like that on your list, you’ll pull…

Polka dot garland

Last week was my turn to host our neighborhood co-op preschool.  Monday also happened to be my daughter’s 4th birthday.  Luckily our letter was P so we hosted a Letter “P” party that doubled as her birthday party.I’ll be sharing more details this week, but first up is this polka-dot garland.  All of my kids were impressed, thinking it must have taken me a long time.  But really, this is a pretty simple project.  It was even easier with My…

Love Notes- a gift wrapping idea

My daughter is getting older.   In fact, it’s her birthday today!   Happy Birthday- H!! I don’t know if any of you have noticed this, but it seems that as children get older, their wants and tastes get more expensive.   My darling H wanted something pretty pricey for her birthday.  She’s old enough to understand a bit about our budget and means and knew it was a long shot at best.  I decided that if she really wanted it, it could…

Rainbow Birthday Cake

My youngest turned 3 on Saturday.  My how time flies!  She wanted a rainbow cake for her birthday.  I was pretty sure I could handle it, but I should have known with pregnancy hormones raging I was in for some trouble. 😉  I pushed through, though and made this: No matter how you slice it, it’s one BIG piece of cake.  Two cake mixes and three cans of frosting later we had a rainbow cake fit for a princess. 🙂 …

A Quick Rundown

It started with a preschool trip to the pumpkin patch.  (right in the middle of Red Ribbon Week).  Followed by Fall Break from school.  During Fall break we celebrated a birthday.  A pretty significant birthday.  8 years is pretty old.  Many thanks to Amy from Increasingly Domestic for the fantastic birthday balloon idea– it was a major hit! I needed some pics of my banner for my boutique.  I think I like this one. 🙂  The best part of the…
